Welcome to the Minor Injury digital archive.

Established in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, in September 1985, Minor Injury functioned as a “not-for-profit alternative space” that provided exhibition opportunities for artists who had “not adapted to the existing system in New York,” particularly “racial, cultural, political and social minorities” and “recent immigrants from troubled or developing countries.” Through this mission, the space supported artists marginalized by dominant institutions while fostering visibility, experimentation, and solidarity beyond mainstream validation. This archive brings archival material resources from various institutions, including the archives of Sung Ho Choi, Artasiamerica, Brooklyn Museum, Watson Library and Archive at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in South Korea.

This archival project envision not only to reconstruct a more comprehensive history of Minor Injury but also to illuminate the micro-relational dynamics, solidarities, and informal infrastructures that sustained its community.
